National Panchayat Awards : Tripura Rank First with Odisha, Win Rs 10 Crore in Prizes

The Ministry of Panchayats, Government of India, annually recognizes exceptional performance in Panchayat Management through the prestigious National Panchayat Awards. Tripura has achieved an extraordinary success this year, securing an impressive 7 awards out of the 45 presented nationwide. This achievement places Tripura at the top, alongside Odisha, in terms of total awards.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has extended his heartfelt congratulations to all those involved in this remarkable accomplishment. He expressed his optimism for continued success and emphasized that this achievement, earned by Tripura’s panchayats in competition with nearly 2.5 lakh panchayats across the country, highlights the strength and effectiveness of the Panchayati Raj system in our state.

The awards received by Tripura include:

  1. Gomati District – Awarded the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar for Best District Panchayat in the country, with a prize of Rs5 crore.
  2. Amarpur RD Block – Awarded the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar as the second-best Block Panchayat, receiving Rs1 crore 75 lakh.
  3. Manubunkul Village Committee (Rupaichari Block) – Awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar for Best Women-Friendly Panchayat, with a prize of Rs1 crore.
  4. Thakchahra Gram Panchayat (Amarpur RD Block) – Awarded the Gram Urja Swaraj Vishesh Panchayat Puraskar for being the second-best Carbon Neutral Panchayat, with a prize of Rs75 lakh.
  5. Betchara Gram Panchayat (Kumarghat Block) – Awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar for Poverty-Free and Enhanced Livelihoods Panchayat, ranking third in poverty alleviation, with a prize of Rs50 lakh.
  6. Rajkang Village Committee (Amarpur RD Block) – Awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar for Child-Friendly Panchayat, ranking third in the country, with a prize of Rs50 lakh.
  7. Debbari Gram Panchayat (Amarpur Block) – Awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar for Water-Sufficient Village, ranking third nationally, with a prize of Rs50 lakh.

The total prize money awarded to various districts, blocks, and panchayats of Tripura amounts to Rs10 crore.

A delegation from the state, led by Dr. Sandeep R. Rathode, Secretary RD (Panchayats) of the Government of Tripura, will attend the National Panchayat Award Ceremony on December 11, 2024, in New Delhi, where the President of India will be in attendance.
