Jan 25, 2017: Today is the 7th National Voters’Day. The Election Commission of India is celebrating the Day across the country today. The Objective of the programme is to encourage and enhance participation of citizens in the electoral process. Spreading awareness among voters regarding importance of effective participation in the electoral process is also another important objection of celebration of this day.
The National level function will be held in New Delhi. On this occasion, President Pranab Mukherjee gave away awards for best electoral practices to District Collectors, Superintendents of Police and other functionaries involved in election management. According to News agency reports, President will administer Voters Day Pledge to participants. Voter identity cards will also be distributed to newly eligible young voters on the occasion.
