November 02, 2017: BJP is yet to formally announcement relating to any pre-poll alliance and the Party is keeping its cards close to chest keeping everyone guessing. Referring to pre-poll alliance with tribal parties, especially IPFT, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today in Agartala said, BJP is looking for sustainable peace and solutions to problems in Hill Tripura. Dr Sarma arrived in Agartala yesterday in a two-day State visit.

“IPFT’s  Twipraland demand is a matter to be looked after by the Centre. But it is important to examine why such demand is coming up. Activities of CPIM have prompted the tribals to raise the demand”, he said and added all the problems that the State is now facing including demand for separate State, will be solved after BJP wins in the Assembly Polls. Dr Sarma also said, BJP had formulated a strategy to avoid splitting anti-Left votes to ensure the defeat of the Left Front in Tripura in Assembly polls. He claimed BJP will win with 2/3rd majority.

Six former Congress and erstwhile TMC MLAs who joined BJP on August 7, are set to mark saffron presence in the State Assembly. The Assembly session will start from November 13 and MLA Dibachandra Hrankhal has been chosen as Leader of the Opposition. Addressing a press conference today in Agartala Assam Finance Minister and NEDA chairman Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma stated this.  Political observers opined, announcing Hrankhal as Opposition Leader is along the expected line.

Lashing out at ruling CPM and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, he alleged, people have lost faith on Tripura Police, law and order situation has broken down while Human Right issues have taken a back seat. He also demanded implementation of 7th CPC recommendations and filling up 60,000 vacant posts.

Dr Sarma said, a BJP parliamentary team will visit Tripura on November 10 to get a feedback on the situation in the Left-ruled state.

“There is lawlessness in Tripura. CPI-M cadres are attacking BJP leaders and workers almost every day and police remain inactive on the government directions,” the BJP leader alleged.

He said BJP wanted a CBI probe into the murder of Tripura’s television journalist Shantanu Bhowmik on September 20 but the government had set up a Special Investigation Team.
