November 04, 2017: Stepping up pressure on the ruling Leftists in Tripura, State BJP today fired ‘corruption in academic sector’ charges. The BJP leader –erstwhile Trinamool Congress MLA – Sudip Roy Barman today raised allegations of serious malpractices in the process of admission in General Nursing and Midwives (GNM) and Auxiliary Nursing & Midwives (ANM) Courses during last few years and demanded a ‘High level enquiry’ into the alleged corruption.
Addressing a press conference today in Agartala, Sudip Roy Barman alleged, entire selection process of the course was full of wrongdoings and genuine aspirants were deprived of admission in GNM and ANM courses. He informed the media that he had sent a letter to the Chief Secretary highlighting ‘corrupt practices’ of concerned authority and had urged him to institute a ‘high level enquiry’ into the matter and take punitive actions against the culprits. He also mentioned about specific cases where better candidates were allegedly deprived of admission the Courses.
Roy Barman also alleged, “Serious wrongdoing was observed in the evaluation of examination papers conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary (TBSE) education. Marks of a large number of students were increased after answer sheets were checked by the examinees during the last several years.”
Saying that the entire educational system had collapsed due to mis-governance of CPM-led Government, he slammed the State Government on 10,323 terminated teachers who would lose their jobs after December 31.
Referring to the State Government’s clarifications on ten allegations and misdeeds, the BJP leader said, the eight-page self-proclamation of the Left government’s was a half-truth and an attempt to cover-up many scams, misdeeds and misgovernance.
