Last day of nominations for 1st phase of assembly polls in Assam

Today is the last day of filing of nominations for the first phase of Assembly elections in Assam and West Bengal. Scrutiny will be held tomorrow, while candidates can withdraw their nominations till Monday.Polling for this phase will take place on the 4th of next month.

Two-phased polling will be held for the 126-member Assam Assembly, while the West Bengal Assembly, which has 294 members, will go to polls in six phases. Polling in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will take place on 16th May. Counting of votes will be taken up on May 19th.
