Keeping the tradition of helping poor villagers, 14 Battalion of BSF Kashiamangal recently held a camp to distribute household items to poverty stricken villagers. This camp was organized at tribal dominated Budhijoy Para under Chaumanu in Dhalai District. Commandant of 14 Battalion in presence of Officials of BSF, Village Committee member and villagers, distributed Cemented water filter to ensure pure drinking water for the villagers. Moreover, Alumium Matka (Kalsh) and Sintex Water Tank were distributed so that villagers can store water for household purposes. “In our village safe and pure drinking water is scarce and water filters distributed by BSF will save us, particularly babies from water borne diseases”, said VC Member Anna Ram Reang. To ensure water supply to households, BSF also distributed Pump set and PVC Pipes. The distribution was not limited to villagers only, it covered a school and shiva temple of the locality too.

May God bless them and their families for helping us”, said one villager after receiving the household items.

Moving from Budhijoy Para to Sidhai Mohanpur in West Tripura, BSF recently organized another civic action programme aiming to community development. This time the programme was organized by 48 Battalion of BSF.  During this programme, Commandant of 48 Battalion of BSF P C Sharma donated two computers to Katlamara High School in presence of Head of the Institute Debabrata Debbarma, school teachers and local panchayat members. “These computers will help the students to get acquainted with computer operation which is essential in present era”, said a teacher. Apart from computers, educational materials were also donated on behalf of the 48 Battalion BSF. “So long I have only seen harsh looking jawans, but today I have seen a humanitarian face behind the stern looks of Jawans, commented Sunetra Mondal, a student.
