SRI technique practiced in Sepahijala District in Tripura is adjudged as one of the best and innovative practices. How SRI has changed life of poor farmer is mentioned at Page 92 in Book-on-Success-stories-released-by-Hon’ble-PM-on-CSD,2017.pdf

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare selected Tripura for Krishi Karman Award for 2015-16 in small States category for laudable increase in food production. The award was reported on April 20 widely in media.

“The Awards and recognition have proved that State Agriculture Department is working in the right direction for the welfare of the farmers of the State. It will be prudent to remember that none other then Prime Minister has handed over the award. It’s really an achievement of the Department and our responsibilities have been increased many folds”, opined an Official of State Agriculture Department referring to persistent criticism lashed out by several Opposition parties.

Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, a section of Officials of the Department observed, the Department would emerge as a model Department in the country if the Government would not be guided by its ‘petty political game’ in selecting Senior Officers, commented an Official on condition of anonymity.
