May 11, 2017: The body of brave heart of Tripura and sub inspector of Shastra Seema Bal (SSB) Amal Sarkar (42), who was killed in Assam in a militant attack a day ago, was cremated with full State honours today.
Earlier, slain Sarkar’s body was flown to Agartala airport in the morning from Guahati. Pall of gloom descended as slain brave heart’s body reached his ancestral village Baikhora under South Tripura district.
There was a huge turnout of people to pay their last respects to the martyr today. Minister Manindra Reang, Chief Whip of Tripura Assembly Basudeb Majumder, MLA Jashbir Tripura and Officials of State and Police administration paid tribute to slain sub-inspector – Amal Sarkar.
Survived by his parents, wife and three daughters, Sarkar was reportedly killed on May 10 evening in an encounter with National Democratic Front of Bodoland-S militants in Assam’s Chirang district.
