June 3, 2017: One of the biggest achievements during Modi regime is to convert “brain drain into brain gain”, commented Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Harsh Vardhan today at Agartala referring to overall improvement ambiance for scientific studies and researches in India. Highlighting achievement in Science and Technology during last three years, he said, India has bagged 3rd spot in Nano technology in the world. Under Modi regime, budgetary allocation for Science and Technology increased by 60-63 per cent, he stated.

“Around 1000 scientists are now favouring India for conducting research works in various fields due to better facilities, infrastructure and financial opportunities created under Modi-led Government”, Dr Harsh Vardhan said while addressing media today at Gitanjali in Agartala. In the press conference he was accompanied by Ranjana Dev Sharma, ADG, PIB of Delhi.

Dr Harsh Vardhan arrived at Agartala yesterday and today participated “Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas” programme at Teliamura as part of celebration of Modi Government’s three years in power. He took part in Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, held series meetings with RSS leaders and intellectuals. He also addressed Yuva Morcha supporters in a separate programme and urged them to focus on achievement of Modi Government.

Using ‘Start Up and Stand Up’ several incubators and new technologies were developed and the aim of the Government is to apply scientific knowledge for improving quality of life of common people, he stated.

He announced, an ambitious programme – Jigyasha – will soon be launched in the country targeting 75,000 students of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Under this programme, students will be taken to laboratories to make them aware about how new technologies are being developed, he said and added, initially only students of Kendriya Vidyalaya will accrue the benefit of this programme.

Focusing about Modi Government’s vision, he said, 1 lakh 75 thousand KM long optic fibre cable have been laid and all the gram panchayats will be connected through such cable lines within 2018. He also focused upon other achievements like National Monsoon Mission, Cyclone forecast etc.

Referring to PM Modi’s willingness for development of North Eastern States, Dr Harsh Vardhan said, 10% of the budget has been earmarked for Science and Technology in NE States.

On The Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, Dr Harsh Vardhan clearly said, the Act is neither against slaughter nor forcing people what to eat or not to eat. “The Act has been adopted following directive from the Supreme Court and this has been made applicable incorporating suggestions from all section of people and anyone can still submit recommendations and suggestions for consideration”, he commented.

Having said that there are misconceptions among certain section of people relating to the Act, he reiterated the Act aims at preventing Cruelty to Animal.
