August 07, 2017: Aiming to give a boost to rural health care delivery system, the State Government has undertaken initiatives to upgrade hospitals to achieve ‘health for all’ goal. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stated this today at Amarpur after inaugurating Amarpur Sub-division Hospital under Gomati District in Tripura. Among others State Health Minister Badal Choudhury and MLA Parimal Debnath were present in the inauguration programme.
Two storied 100-bed Amarpur sub-division hospital was built at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore 82 lakhs. “The Hospital will cater needs of living in the sub-division and benefit people, especially economically backward communities”, Sarkar said and added Left Government is committed to improve health care delivery services.
“It is necessary that medical personnel work with a strong mentality of serving people who are in distress. I urge all the doctors and medical staffs to work with a dedication and to serve the cause of the society”, he said in his inaugural speech.
Speaking on the occasion, other dignitaries stressed to spread awareness and avail hospital services instead of visiting quacks. Infant mortality rate has come down in the State due to sustained effort by the Government in expanding medical services. Once delivering health care services in rural were difficult due to insurgency, however Left Front with co-operation from security agencies and local people, tamed the menace of insurgency and development activities restarted. Speakers also urged people to maintain peace and thwart divisive forces.
“Infant mortality rate in the State is lower than the national average and we are trying to further reduce the rate. The State has also achieved success in implementing immunization programme and helped to avert child death to a great extent”, Choudhury said.
