Importing LPG from Bangladesh is cheaper option than to transport it from Haldia or Guwahati. IOCL almost completed a bottling plant construction near Agartala.
Agartala, December 07, 2019: The State Government has made elaborated plan to ensure hassle free and timely distribution of LPG bullets in the State and a pact was signed between India and Bangladesh paving way to import LPG bullets from Bangladesh. Food Minister Manoj Kanti Deb said this in Agartala on Friday.
Moreover, setting up a bottling plant at Bodhjungnagar is likely to be completed within January, 2020, Deb said.
He said, “As transporting LPG bullets from Haldia Port and Guwahati based Oil refineries is both expensive as well as time consuming affair – a pact was signed with Bangladesh in August last for importing LPG bullets and
accordingly, on the first phase,108 MT LPG gas was imported from Bangladesh through Srimantapur border and stored at Bishalgarh Bottling Plant”.
Manoj Kanti Deb also said that monthly 720 MT gas would be imported from current month for three months under second phase. Presently, monthly demand for LPG stands at around 5000 MT. He also mentioned about other initiatives.
“Construction of a high power bottling plant of IOCL at Bodhjungnagar industrial belt is in final leg and expected to be completed within January 2020 next. Yearly production capacity of the plant will be 60,000 MT which will be augmented to 1,20,000 MT in next phase and IOCL has invested Rs 250 crore for construction of the Plant”, Deb informed media personnel.
On an another note, the Food Minister said, the State Government has strengthened Market monitoring system to check local manipulations on prices. He also highlighted achievements of the department and mentioned about e-PDS system which prevented pilferage.
Moreover, Manoj Kanti Deb said, State Government is Planning to increase Rice distribution through PDS. both APL and Antyoday annapurna Yozona if the Central Govt consider to increase the Supply of Rice. The proposals are in pipeline. If Govt of india sanction it the APL consumers will get 7 k.g instead of present 5 kg and AAY per card will be increase 50 kg instead of present 35 kg.
