March 31, 2018: Management of Tripura Institute of Paramedical Science (TIPS) of Hapania today suspended the Head of the Physiotherapy Department and ordered the Disciplinary Committee to enquire about complaints raised by the students. Madhavendra Kumar, Administrative Office of TIPS stated this in a press release today.
Students of the TIPS staged protests against the Head of the Physiotherapy Department. The HoD was accused of abusing girl students and harassing students and teachers. The agitating students demanded suspension of the accused HoD.
Agitating students alleged, the HoD hurled indecent abuses to girl students and also remained absent from taking classes. The students of Physiotherapy Department gathered outside the TIPS campus raising slogans against the HoD. The students want immediate suspension of the accused. Allegedly, a section of teachers was proactive in filing complaints against the HoD but no action has been taken against the accused.
Reportedly, the protestors gave a written complaint to the TIPS administration. They accused the TIPS administration of pressurizing the victims. The protestors barged into the administration block and left only after assurance from the administration about action against the HoD. The accused HoD was nowhere to be found on the campus.
