Agartala, January 9, 2020: A 18 days National Interactive Tour was organized by Assam Rifles in which North East region students visited several places of national and historical importance. An AR press release said this.
Living upto it’s sobriquet ‘Friends of the Hill People’, Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (East) had organized an 18 day National Interactive Tour (NIT) to Rajkot, Gujarat for 50 students (36 boys & 14 girls) all hailing from underdeveloped and remote regions of North East accompanied by 02 teachers. The tour was flagged off by Brig Amitabh Roy, VrC, SM**, Brig (Personnel), HQ DGAR on 23 Dec 2019 from Shillong.
The students attended the 22nd Rashtra Katha Shivir organized by Vedic Mission Trust at Village Pransla, District Rajkot. During the tour, the team also visited various renowned places of cultural and historical significance like Science Museum, Huzoor Palace, Tara Mandir and a comprehensive visit to Indian Coast Guard Base which included Hovercraft Ride for the students and Naval Air Enclave located at Rajkot and Porbandar.
The students also interacted with important dignitaries like Governor of Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Judges of Supreme Courts and Senior Officers of Army and CAPF. One of the most enjoyable parts of the tour was journey by Indian Railways, which was undertaken by many students for the first time.
The 18 day National Interactive Tour camp aimed to instill amongst the youth of NER core values of nationalism, selflessness, fraternity, peace and tolerance and promote social harmony. During the tour, students also transited through New Delhi where they were exposed to the rich cultural heritage of the country alongwith vis to National Police Memorial.
The children were visibly excited and happy to have been part of the tour and shared their experiences and memories. Major Rohan Munshi, Officer-in- Charge of National Interactive Tour congratulated the students on the successful completion of tour and exhorted the students to apply the knowledge and experience gained by them in positively contributing to society and the nation at large.
Students expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for having provided them the opportunity of touring the country thereby creating memories of lifetime.
