Agartala, February 09, 2020: For training teachers across the country, The NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training) has decided to try procedures followed by Tripura as a Model, Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said today in Agartala.

The Minister said, “NCERT is very much satisfied with the progress of teachers of Tripura within a short time. It will try the procedures followed by Tripura to train 42 lakh teachers across the country”.

Teachers’ Training in Tripura

Notably, the BJP-IPFT government decided to introduce NCERT curriculum in all the schools in Tripura from the 2019-20 Academic year. So long, Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) syllabus was followed. Before switching over to the new curriculum, Government took several initiatives for smooth switch over to NCERT syllabus including imparting training to its 40,000 teachers.

State Government designed a five-day training module for teachers. Specialists and experts from NCERT imparted training to teachers in phases. The procedure tasted success and NCERT expressed satisfaction over rapid progress of the teachers.

Following the example of Tripura, NCERT has decided to try the same procedure in other parts of the country while training school teachers, Ratan Lal Nath said and added, a research was conducted in Delhi on the teachers of Tripura recently. He pointed out that 95 percent of the Tripura teachers were very good at their works.

Beating exam-phobia

Tripura Government, in its endeavour to provide quality education, is stressing on arranging special coaching classes as well as taking steps to dispel exam-phobia from the minds of students for better performances.

In this connection, the Minister informed media that the state government was contemplating to organize special coaching for 14,000 weak students before the final exams scheduled to start from 20 this month.

“From this month final examinations will start. We are approaching every school to conduct parent teacher meeting. More than 100 officers have been engaged to supervise this novel procedure. The motive of the initiative is to build confidence among the weak students. Special measures are being taken to address them before the exams. We want that no student should come to school in fear of exams. Exam-phobia has a greater impact on the studies, our motive is to conduct statewide exams in a festive manner,” Nath said.
