Even as no case of dreaded novel Coronavirus has been detected so far, Tripura Health Department, to tackle novel Coronavirus sets up special isolation unit

Agartala, February 03, 2020: In the wake of outbreak of novel Coronavirus, Tripura Health department has geared up to tackle any such eventuality. In GB Hopsital at Agartala, an isolation unit has been set up with special arrangements to combat the dreaded novel Coronavirus.
Combating novel Coronavirus
Health department sources said, if any suspected case is found in part of the State, the patient would rushed to the isolation unit for diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Anjan Das has been assigned to shoulder the responsibility of the special unit located at the old TB ward under respiratory medicine unit of the hospital. The special unit is fitted with all the emergency medical facilities for both male and female patients.
Apart from that, all the doctors’ bodies—IMA and ATGDA had undertaken a number of awareness programmes across the state and made people aware of symptoms of dreaded novel Coronavirus. In the awareness programme, villagers have been asked to report to the nearest health center as soon as symptoms prevail.

Dr. Kanak Chowdhury of ATGDA said, “All the doctors’ bodies are taking concerted steps to generate more and more awareness on novel Coronavirus among the masses. Awareness campaigns in creasing numbers are being organized to create a strong public force to combat this disease.
A special programme will be also organized at AGMC hospital on February 5 in which doctors and the students will participate to discuss about various aspects of the disease”.
Earlier, a huge consignment of masks had been ordered for the state health department. “There is no scarcity of masks but for tackling any emergency situation, the department has to remain prepared. The state health department cannot afford any crisis in the hours of need so an order has already been placed” said a highly placed source in the department.
Meanwhile IANS reported, With three confirmed cases of novel Coronavirus cases in the state and a few more likely to turn positive, the Kerala government has declared it a state calamity, state Health Minister K.K. Shailaja said on Monday night.
