Tablighi Jamaat: Health Dept isolated, conducted tests on 44 returnees, family members. Those participated in Jamaat of Nizamuddin Markaz and their families lodged into institutional quarantine

Agartala, April 01, 2020: Much to the relief of Tripura people, the Health department had successfully traced 26 people who had participated in Tablighi Jamaat organized at Delhi’s Nizamuddin, sources in the Health and Family
welfare department confirmed today.
The Tablighi Jamaat episode created resentment as well as panic among the people. Since morning, Health Department officials hit streets and picked up those who returned from Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin along with their family members.

“As far as the first hand information, a list of 22 people was forwarded to us from Delhi. We had successfully identified 15 yesterday who showed no symptoms of the disease. In the meantime, following our local investigation and inputs from the police department the total toll has risen up to 26. Altogether, 44—the participants of Tablighi and their family members have been isolated and being tested today”, source in the health department said.
Among the 26, 12 people who have been taken into custody from Jogendra Nagar based Jame mosque hailed from Assam.
“ The others have mixed domicile background. Some people belong to Mumbai, Delhi and Tripura too. All of them have been lodged into institutional quarantine at Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas”, said a senior police official adding that all of them had participated in Jamaat of Nizamuddin Markaz.
Reportedly, in neighboring Assam altogether 13 people tested positive to the novel corona virus (Covid 19) so far, who had been in the religions congregation held in between March 1 to March 10 last. Sources in the police department said, as soon as we got the information separate teams have been formed and engaged with the medical
teams to identify and isolate the people who have visited the corona hot spot—the Jamaat Nazimuddin at Delhi.
Meanwhile, separate medical teams had been spotted today conducting search operations in all the minority-
dominated areas of the state.
“People have been picked up in medical vans from Chandrapur, Jay Nagar, Indrangar, Bitar Bon and Gangail road in the city. Separate medical vans have been sent to Sonamura and other minority dominated areas following the intelligence inputs”, sources said.

Speaking to media, one of the members of Jamiat Ulema Hind Tripura state branch said, “All the religious activities being performed in the mosques have been stopped and everyone is asked to offer the Namaz in homes. The people who are identified in Tripura came here as part of Tabligh and got stranded due to the lockdown”.
However, the people who had been detained by the authorities have revealed that they came here in Tripura earlier in March. But, as per the police record they arrived here in the state a week ago, said sources in the police.
