According to Information available in Wikipedia, JMB  is an Islamic terrorist organization operating in Bangladesh. It is also listed as a terror group by the UK. It was founded in April 1998 in Palampur in Dhaka division by Abdur Rahman and gained public prominence in 2001 when bombs and documents detailing the activities of the organization were discovered in Parbatipur in Dinajpur district. The organization was officially declared a terrorist organization and banned by the government of Bangladesh in February 2005 after attacks on NGOs.

“Abdul Malik also told the police that he has been illegally traveling to Bangladesh frequently. He has admitted to his links with other JMB cadres who are presently active in India. He revealed his travel to Bengaluru and Chennai in the past. He is a wanted JMB cadre in Sylhet in (eastern) Bangladesh.”

Top officials of central intelligence agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are going to north Tripura district headquarters Dharmanagar, around 200 km north of Tripura capital Agartala, to question the JMB operative.

North Tripura district police Chief Banupada Chakraborty told IANS over phone from Dharmanagar that the JMB cadre was produced in a local court, which sent him in seven-day police custody.

“Abdul Malik along with his wife Lipi Begum staying in a rented house at Yakubnagar area bordering Raghna village, has been doing work of mason in the locality. He told the local people that they were residents of Assam,” Chakraborty said.

The northeastern state of Tripura shares a 856-km international border with Bangladesh, of which a stretch of 67 km is still unfenced.
