Agartala, December 19, 2019: Unidentified miscreants hurled stones at an anti-CAA rally in Belonia under South Tripura today. Two police personnel and few other protestors were injured in the stone-pelting. Left Front organized the protest rally as part of state-wide agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Both the police personnel were taken to the hospital.
Left Front held anti-CAA rallies and public meetings in different places in the State and condemned the CAA terming it an ‘anti-constitutional attempt’. A central protest rally and public meeting were held in Agartala. While addressing the gathering, Left leaders slammed the Central Government and condemned the CAA.
Left Front convener Bijan Dhar said, the attack on Left supporters and frontal organization activists came as they tried to agitate against an ‘unconstitutional law’.
