April 16, 2018: Alertness of common people saved girl from gang rape and police nabbed five miscreants and lady from the spot.
Sources said, the incidence took place at Dharmanagar in North Tripura on April 15. While people were busy in celebrating Bengali New Year, a gang of five youths kidnapped a 16-year old girl and took her to jail quarters.
Alarmed at scream of the victim, local people and Deputy Jailer got into action and foiled heinous plan of the culprits. Police rushed to spot and arrested accused five youths. Police also nabbed one Sabita Debbarma – widow of a jail employee. It is reported Sabita is staying at the staff quarters and was selling country liquor as well as was carrying out other illegal activities from the quarters.
Spirited resistance and promptness of police have saved a girl from the clutches of perverted youth, a resident of Dharmanagar said.
