February 08, 2018: Tripura Police today recovered arms and ammunition from a suspected arms smuggler from Agartala Rail Station area. Source said, acting on a tip off, police personnel of Amtali PS today detained one Naresh Chakma of Jatanbari Police Station in Natunbazar.
After a search, Police found and recovered a knief, 3 pistols and 500 rounds of bullets from Naresh Chakma. Sources claimed, Naresh has past criminal record with similar case registered againt him in Assam. It is suspected that he was planning to smuggle the arms across the border. He was handed over to GRP for further course of action.
Tripura Police is maintaining a tight vigil in poll bound Tripura and today’s successful recovery of arms is the result of continuois surveillance and smooth co-ordination of State Police department, sources said.
