Manipur Police and security forces launched coordinated operations across Imphal West, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Kamjong and Ukhrul districts on June 17. Agartala/Imphal: Manipur Police and security forces have intensified operations against illegal arms networks, drug-related activities and insurgent-linked groups across the state.

Officials said the latest operations targeted multiple threats, including militant activities, illegal weapons circulation and suspected narcotics networks.

The coordinated security drive resulted in several arrests and recoveries from different districts. Authorities also continued area domination exercises in vulnerable locations affected by violence.

The operations come at a time when security agencies are focusing on restoring stability in conflict-sensitive areas of Manipur.

Three PLA/RPF Cadres Arrested in Imphal West

A major development came from Imphal West district, where security personnel arrested three active cadres linked with the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and its political wing Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF).

According to police officials, the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in several violent incidents and criminal activities reported in the state.

Security agencies believe the arrests could help disrupt underground networks operating in different areas.

Officials said investigations are underway to gather more details about their alleged activities and connections.

Morphine Seized in Churachandpur Operation

In another operation, Manipur Police arrested two persons from Molnom village in Churachandpur district.

Police recovered nearly two kilograms of suspected morphine from their possession.

The seizure has brought renewed attention to the challenge of illegal drug movement in the state.

Security agencies have been conducting targeted operations against suspected narcotics networks. These actions aim to prevent the spread of illegal substances and disrupt organised criminal activities.

Arms Recovery Operation in Imphal East

Security personnel also carried out an arms-related operation in Imphal East district.

During the operation, officials arrested Yumnam Seityajit Mangang, aged 36.

Police recovered a .22 calibre revolver and nine live rounds of .22 ammunition from him.

Authorities said the recovery is part of the ongoing effort to identify and stop illegal possession of firearms in sensitive areas.

26 Illegal Bunkers Destroyed in Kamjong and Ukhrul

Security forces conducted another major operation in Kamjong district and Ukhrul district.

During the operation, forces demolished 26 illegally constructed bunkers.

Officials said armed groups allegedly used these structures to support violent activities and maintain control over certain locations.

Security teams recovered several materials from the bunker sites.

DGP Mukesh Singh Reviews Security Situation

Mukesh Singh is personally supervising the security arrangements in areas affected by recent violence.

Officials said the police leadership is monitoring developments closely, especially in locations where armed incidents have increased.

The security forces are focusing on preventing further escalation and maintaining law and order.

Injured Youths Shifted From RIMS After Protests

Meanwhile, three injured youths belonging to the Kuki tribal community were shifted from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) following protests over their treatment.

The youths suffered injuries during a gunfight between rival armed tribal groups in Kangpokpi district on June 15.

Police officials said the injured persons were moved from RIMS around midnight on Tuesday under strict security arrangements.

Authorities shifted them to another hospital to ensure safety. However, the destination hospital has not been disclosed due to security concerns.
