The North East Training Research and Advocacy (NETRA) Foundation participated in a special session at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) -led International Conference on Global South and Triangular Cooperation: Emerging Facets.
The conference, held on June 3-4, 2025, brought together over 400 delegates from across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Global North. The platform aimed to enhance development cooperation through South-South and Triangular modalities, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, inclusivity, and regional innovation.
President Santiago Pena Palacios of Paraguay addressed the conference on June 3, 2025, at the Taj Palace, Delhi. Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma chaired the event, while Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs of India, and Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Director General, RIS, shared their insights on the India-Paraguay relationship.
As part of the event, a dedicated Solutions Hub-II session titled “Engagement with NETRA for Development of North-East” was held on June 4, 2025.
The NETRA session, chaired by Professor S. K. Mohanty from RIS and introduced by Dr. Priyadarshi Dash, Associate Professor at RIS, focused on the development potential and challenges of North East India.
The session emphasized policy-oriented research, regional collaboration, and institutional engagement under the NETRA initiative.
Prof. Kesang Degi, Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar; Prof. Jayanta Choudhury, Nagaland University; Ms. Chubaienla Imchen, Jubilee Memorial College, Nagaland; Prof. Durga Chhetri, Sikkim University; Prof. Jyotiraj Pathak, Bodoland University, Assam; Prof. Kanak Haloi, NIRDPR-NERC; Dr. Moameren Pongen, St. Joseph University, Nagaland; Dr. Papiya Dutta, University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya and Prof. Subhrabaran Das, Tripura University represented NETRA in the session.
They highlighted the strategic role of North East India in India’s regional and international engagement frameworks, emphasizing the need for deeper research partnerships, grassroots-led interventions, and context-specific policy models.
