Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s reaffirmation pledge “to save every drop of water” on world water day 2022 was well echoed by global speakers during World Water Summit 2022 which was organised by UNAccc on 22 March 2022.
A consortium of experts under the leading think-tank organisation Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNAccc) congregated across 18 countries for three hours marathon contribution for the noble cause of water conservation on world water day.
The Summit was inaugurated by Rakesh Jain, renowned environment conservationist and the chief guest was Dr Shrikanta Panigrahi, Climate change advisor to Prime Minister of India.
The nobility of the summit was privileged by a special keynote speech by Prof Ganeshi Lal, governor of Odisha state of India.
During the opening remarks, Dr Rajat Sharma, Global Chairman UNAccc mentioned the efforts being done by UNAccc at the global level to rehabilitate the groundwater and how all can contribute together.
He also emphasised the need for the execution of global policy to achieve the sustainable development goal 6 (clean water and sanitation for all).
He hailed the efforts being done by the government of India under the Clean Ganga Project.
Other dignitaries who spoke about water conservation were, Jal Star Ramesh Goyal, Jag Mohan Gupta (Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India), Swami Sahajanand (Patron UNAccc), Veera Awah (Vice President of UNAccc, Africa headquarter.
Prof TSN Shastri, Vice-Chancellor Sikkim Law university, Dr. Jayanta Choudhury (Founder, Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development) and many others also spoke on the issue.
A vivid discussion on strategies and applied methods as well as suggestions on the management of groundwater at various levels was deliberated.
It is pivotal to know that UNAccc is critically focusing on SDG 6, which is “clean water and sanitation for all”. UNAccc has a reach across the globe in 87 Countries with 145 Board members and it is increasing day by day.
