Agartala, April 30, 2020: Even as the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already formulated a new SOP (Standard of Operating Procedures) for the post-lockdown air services, the AAI head quarters are yet to take a final call on the intervals of flights and numbers in MBB Airport Agartala. Highly placed sources of AAI said that the AAI head quarters would take a final decision in this regard after assessing the capacity of the terminal building and flights.

“As per the new guidelines, it has been made clear that the capacity of passengers will be reduced in each of the aircraft. But, as to what number of aircraft will be operating in what sequence if the lockdown in lifted that will be decided by the head quarters and that too after assessing the forthcoming situation and capacity of the terminal building”, Agartala Airport Director VK Seth said.

On being asked about the expected time of reopened services, he said, the most important thing that has to be mentioned here is that the AAI, in its new guidelines, clearly underscores that all the protocols will be followed strictly if the operation starts. That means AAI is not sure about resuming services, he added.

Moreover, to maintain social distancing in the washrooms, we are going to engage a staff there so that people do not get spilled over there”.
