As the Covid pandemic rage remains unabated, College and University students of Tripura are in great dilemma relating to mode of examinations. While a section of the students are arguing for conducting examinations as usual, another section is strongly pitching for holding on-line exams.
Meanwhile the Covid situation of the state is continuing to worsen despite strict measures taken by the Government, The number of fresh cases is leaping with every passing day. Even though, situation in Tripura is still better than many other States, students of colleges and universities in Tripura have been left in an uncertain situation as their exams are scheduled to start very shortly.
Strong demands were being raised from several quarters to postpone the exams as it could augment the spread of infection. On the other hand, a section of the parents and students had conveyed that they wanted to participate in the exams if all the necessary precautions were taken.
According to students, exams are scheduled in MBB University, Tripura University and various other colleges running under it. Even exams for distance education are also slated to begin in the month of May.
“We have already lost a whole year. Now, if the exams are again postponed, we will be late by another year. Offline exams if not possible at that point of time, the government should go for online examinations so that the studies do not get hampered”, said one agitating student in front of the City centre.
Meanwhile, a delegation of NSUI led by Rakesh Das met Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath with a set of demands centering the uncertainties pertaining to the exams.
After the meeting, the minister said, “On Monday (April 26) a high level meeting will be held and decisions in this regard will be taken taking all the views into consideration”.
