ProMASS: Dec 27, 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of Char Dham highway development project in Dehradun. Addressing a parivartan rally in Dehradun after laying foundation stone of the project, Mr Modi said the Char Dham project is a tribute to Kedarnath flash flood victims.
He also said the, Project will benefit people visiting holy shrines in Uttarakhand. Mr. Modi said, the huge presence of people in the rally is indicative of the results of the upcoming elections in the State. Mr Modi also criticised the previous governments for not paying attention to the infrastructure development of the area.
The Prime Minister hailed Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for conceptualizing all weather road infrastructure for the State. Mr Modi said, the project which involves an expenditure of over 12 thousand crore rupees, will generate additional employment for the local population and will change the economy of the State.
The project will allow uninterrupted access for pilgrims to the four Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri which bore the brunt of devastating floods in 2013. To enhance road safety, the all-weather roads will have tunnels, bridges and fly-overs. Mr. Modi also visited exhibition during the launch of Char Dham highway development project in Dehradun.
