Agartala, February 22, 2019: The High Court of Tripura today asked the organizers of Agartala Book Fair to make all arrangements to open the stall- S.27, allotted to Chatro Sambad, SFI’s monthly vernacular journal and hand over the possession until further order.
During hearing on a Writ Petition filed by SFI against closure of its stall by the organizers of Agartala Book Fair, a Single Bench of Justice Subhasish Talapatra passed the order.
The stall was closed down on the alleged ground of non-compliance of the instruction or on the basis of the complaints which were evidently not made known to the SFI.
“The petitioner is also directed to maintain the order in the Book Fair and they shall not indulge any act which may create any disorderly situation”, the Court added. Notably, a group of students gathered around the stall allotted to the SFI, S-27, at the Book Fair on Sunday last and protested against it. Moreover, unidentified miscreants ransacked the stall on last Saturday night. The stall was not given a proper electricity connection in the beginning.
