Agartala, January 05, 2019: In his first State visit after BJP-IPFT government was formed in March, 2018, Amit Shah discussed a host of national and State-level issue with media today in Agartala. He also outlined the key poll planks of BJP. Here are crisp highlights:
- All India BJP president Amit Shah today announced that, development, defence and focus on reviving old glory of the country would be focal issues of the Party in upcoming Lok Sabha Poll in 2019.
- Rejecting the opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into Rafale deal, Shah said, “after the Supreme Court verdict and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech in the Lok Sabha on Friday, there is not an iota of doubt about transparency in the Rafale fighter jet deal”.
- “There is no leader, no policies, no vision and no unity about the so-called Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance). During the 2014 polls, the National Democratic Alliance had 28 parties, now it has 40,” Shah said, adding the BJP and its allies would do much better than in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
- Saying that Northeast states had become Congress mukt because of Modi government’s initiatives for development of the region, BJP president reiterated that BJP would win more than 21 seats out of total 25 LS seats. He said, “Modi Government focused on development in North East with compassion”.
- While pointing out success of Biplab Deb-led Government, Shah also mentioned about 10,323 terminated teachers’ issue. He said, “BJP government is trying its best to protect the interests of 10323 teachers’ who were terminated from jobs due to administrative blunder”.
- Moreover, State Government paid ‘historic tribute’ to Maharaja of Tripura by renaming Agartala Airport in the name of Maharaja Bir Bikram, he commented. Replying to a question, Shah said, BJP along with IPFT would fight in LS Poll in the State.
- On seating sharing with IPFT in LS Polls, Amit Shah said, nothing has been finalized about seat sharing. He, however, said that BJP along with IPFT will fight in LS Polls in Tripura.
