In a road accident in Tripura, two persons died and one injured in Pecharthal area on Friday morning after a Kumarghat bound rice loaded lorry fell into a gorge at Shidongchhara area. The lorry was coming to Kumarghat from Guwahati.
As the lorry reached Shidongchhara – in between Pecharthal and Kumarghat – the lorry fell into a 25-30 ft deep gorge. Later, Fire service personnel reached the spot and rescued three persons – the driver-cum-owner of the lorry Nani babu Singh (45), assistant driver Gurudas Mishra (35) and a helper Rajesh Singh.
However, when taken to Pecharthal Hospital, the attending doctor pronounced Nani Babu and Gurudas ‘brought dead’. While Nani babu hailed from Bilashpur under Kailashahar PS, Gurudas was a resident of West Mashauli of Fatikroy PS. The injured person Rajesh Singh is undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be stable.
Speaking about the accident, OC of Pecharthal Police Station Jahangir Hussain said, road construction works were going on in the area – moreover, there was fog in the morning time. Prima facie, it seems these factors might lead to the accident – however, an investigation has started and actual would be available after the investigation, Hussain commented.
