Nine Indian fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy late last night on charges of violating the international maritime boundary and poaching in Sri Lankan waters. The fishermen belong to Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu. According to Sri Lankan Navy, the fishermen along with two trawlers were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Kankasanthurai for further legal action. With these arrests, there are 15 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody now.
