State Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the third event of the inaugural Tripura Tourism Promo Fest-2024 at Bhangmun, Jampui Hill, in the Kanchanpur subdivision of North Tripura district on Wednesday.
The Tripura Tourism Promo Fest-2024 aims at showcasing the potential of the state’s tourism industry, with its rich natural beauty and cultural diversity, on the global stage.
The first two events of the Tripura Tourism Promo Fest-2024 were held at Narikalkunj and Neermahal in Dhalai and Sepahijala Districts of Tripura.
In his inaugural speech, the Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the infrastructure of the state’s tourist destinations, which is driving an increase in international visitors.
He also emphasised the vast employment opportunities the tourism industry offers in the state. Moreover, the minister revealed that steps have been taken to establish home stays at various tourist sites to further boost tourism.
He also noted that Jampui Hill, the only hill station in the state, will be developed as a key tourism destination, capitalizing on its scenic beauty.
At the event, Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma expressed her gratitude to the Tourism Department for organizing an event as part of the Tripura Tourism Promo Fest-2024 in Jampui Hill.
She underscored the importance of leveraging the region’s natural beauty to propel the growth of the tourism industry.
The welcome address was delivered by U.K. Chakma, Secretary of the Tourism Department.
The event was chaired by Jampui Hill BAC Chairman Chungnunga, the Chairman of Jampui Hill BAC.
Other distinguished attendees included North Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Aparna Nath, MLAs Philip Kumar Reang and Pramod Reang, TTAADC Executive Member Bhabaranjan Reang, MDCs Bhumikananda Reang and Shailendra Nath, Laljuri BAC Chairman Ajanta Kumar Chowdhury, Tourism Department Director Prashant Badal Negi, Additional District Magistrate of North Tripura L. Darlong, and Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Officer Dr. Deepak Kumar.
The festival also featured performances of music, Cheron dance (Bamboo Dance), and Hajagiri dance by renowned state artists and local performers.
