Tripira News: Class IX, XI results on June 30; Board exams cancelled

The Education department has taken a decision to announce results of Classes IX and XI on June 30 next in all the Government and Government-aided High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools, a government notification said this on Saturday. All the students who appeared in truncated Annual examinations would be promoted to the next high classes.

According to the notification, a major part of the instructional days of Class IX and XI during 2020-2021 academic session was disrupted consequent upon the inconveniences caused by the COVID19 pandemic.

 

Though the Annual Examinations had started on 12/04/2021, it had to be postponed from 26/04/2021 due to the second wave of the pandemic.

In the wake of such a situation, it was decided that all the students of classes IX and X1, who appeared in the Annual Examinations, would be promoted to the next higher classes.

 

The notification said, “As examination of all subjects of these classes could not be held, the highest mark obtained in a performing subject would be awarded in subject/s for which examinations have been cancelled. However, if a student did not secure 33% marks in any subject(s) already written, he/she would be awarded grace marks to reach the qualifying marks of 33 wherever required.”

 

Meanwhile, in view of Covid pandemic situation Tripura Board of Secondary Eduction (TBSE) conducted Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, Madrassa Alim and Madrassa Fazil examinations have been cancelled. State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced this in Agartala on Saturday.  

 

Nath pointed out that even as exams had been cancelled, an Expert Committee would be formed to take a call on the process of evaluating the candidates. He said, results would be calculated as per the recommendations of the Expert Committee and the results would be published on July 31 next.

 

The Minister said, “Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, Madrasa Alim and Madrasa Fazil examinations have been cancelled due to Covid pandemic. Earlier, these exams were postponed. The decision to cancel all of these exams has been jointly taken by the Education department and Tripura Board of Secondary Education”.

 

Elaborating on assessment of candidates, Ratan Lal Nath said, “In a meeting of a high level Committee on Education on June 21 next, decision relating to formation of the Expert Committee for evaluating the students would be taken.  Based on the recommendations of the expert committee, TBSE will award marks to students”.

 

Nath said that a total of 73,818 students were enrolled for the examinations. Out of this, 46,613 students were enrolled for Madhyamik while 27,205 for Higher Secondary exams.
