Agartala, October 02, 2019: The 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed across the State in a befitting manner. The main State level programme was held at Agartala. The celebration started with ‘Prabhat Pheri’ in which Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, other dignitaries and students of several city-based schools walked down the city roads. In the rally, presence of vibrant students in school uniforms added colours.
After the rally, dignitaries including the Chief Minister took part in Sram Daan programme at Orient Choumuhani followed by Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan led by Biplab Kumar Deb.
At the national-level, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and several Union Ministers, BJP and opposition leaders paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his Samadhi Rajghat.
