Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju said the entire North Eastern Region underwent noticeable transformation from its ascendency to ‘priority’ region in Modi-era compared to ‘neglected’ Region of Congress regime.
He also said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha is implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
Rijiju who arrived at Tripura on Tuesday (Jan 10) to take part in the BJP’s ongoing Jana Vishwas Rally addressed a rally at Charilam under Sepahijala in Tripura today.
Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb, West Bengal BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, Deputy Chief Minister of the State Jishnu Dev Varma (also the local MLA) and other leaders also addressed the rally.
During successive Congress governments, the North Eastern Region remained neglected. Prime Ministers would visit the region, may be, once in a five-year term. No one was interested about the development of the region due to political insignificance for lower number of MPs.
People of the rest of the country had a bad perception about the North eastern region and the region was known as an insurgency infested region.
The scenario changed after Modi led government was formed in 2014 and “the region ascended to the priority position and is marching forward on the path of development rapidly.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi after becoming the prime Minister accorded priority to the region and he ensured that all the development projects get implemented first in the North eastern region, the Union Minister said.
The North Eastern Region who was controlled by the Congress and Communists in Tripura, has also witnessed political transformation with BJP or its alliance is in power in all the eight States of the region, he said and attributed the credit to the Prime Minister.
Rijiju also praised the BJP-led Government in Tripura.
Under the leadership of Biplab Kumar Deb and now Dr Manik Saha, Tripura is witnessing development. There is no more security threat in the State.
“During the last five years in Tripura, BJP constructed ‘foundation’ and now it is the time to construct ‘building’ on that foundation”, Rijiju said and commented, “People of Tripura are going with the BJP under the visionary leadership of Narendra ModiJi. CM Dr Manik Saha Ji is implementing PM’s vision in Tripura”.
