Agartala, August 28, 2019: India is a country of brave heros – many jawans sacrificed their lives for the country, and because of their valor and sacrifices, India has become known to the world as a country with dignity. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this while paying tributes to Vir Chakra awardee Sepoy late Rabi Kumar Debbarma of Tripura.
He chanted “Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi” which means “Mother and motherland are superior to Heaven” while addressing unveiling ceremony of the statue of Late Rabi Kumar Debbarma, Vir Chakra (Posthumous) at Lembucherra Eco Park in Agartala today.
Sepoy Rabi Kumar Debbarma sacrificed his life in a courageous fight against LTTE militants in Sri Lanka on July 3, 1988. Today’s programme was held to honour his sacrifice. In his speech, Deb said, Tripura is tiny State, but we feel ourselves proud as a large section of people of brave Janajati communities are serving in Assam Rifles, BSF, TSR, Indian Army and are serving the nation.
“We are proud for bravery of Sepoy Rabi Kumar Debbarma. Our brave soldiers and their sacrifices have ensured sovereignty, cultural heritage, unity and harmony of the country”, he asserted.
