That is the single and all pervasive question rattling psyche of crores of people across the country while confronting lockdown to fight against Coronavirus pandemic. The single out question has been driving vulnerable section of people such as critically ailing patients and the aged to a point of stark distress. Yet, as a beam of rays always spark bright in darkness, good Samaritan come across to assist people. Tale of Jagatjyoti Roy resounds the quality of virtues in human.

With lockdown in force and no transport mode is available, 65 year old retired person Jagatjyoti Roy of Ramnagar was clueless as to how to collect those all important batteries. Members of ‘Mukti Sangha’ of the same locality came to know about plight of Jagatjyoti Roy and bought the batteries for him, delivered those to him free of cost. “I just cannot imagine this. Heartfelt gratitude for Mukti Sangha Members”, an exalted Jagatjyoti Roy said.
Tripura Corona Fighter, Mukti Sangha launched doorstep supply of essentials including medicines in Ramnagar area on April 3 last. SP Manik Das formally inaugurated this noble venture. The club created a Whatsapp group (9436169883) – named Mukti Sangha – and catering needs of local people who had registered them with WA.

“So far, 91 persons have registered and the number is increasing”, said secretary of Mukti Sangh, Biswadeb Datta Choudhury – himself a retired employee of Tripura Gramin Bank.
“We have started this voluntary service with twin objectives. In compliance with ‘Stay Home’ during lockdown directive, we are urging people to stop going to markets or shops for purchasing essential items or medicines, instead, put order with us, we would deliver at doorsteps without any extra charges.
Secondly, we want to assure senior citizens and elders of our ‘Para’ that during such critical time, we are with them to ensure supply of medicines as well as other essentials”, Datta Choudhury commented.
Explaining modus operandi, Subrata Sarkar an eminent lawyer of the state said, our WA group members can place orders for their household requirements – grocery, vegetable, medicines etc. With aid of third party agencies, our volunteers will deliver the items to the person at the doorstep. There is no additional fee required to pay – members can make payment for their purchases in cash or through online to third party. However, orders will be delivered on the next day after receiving the order.
Sporting a mask, much relieved Jagatjyoti Roy said, “We the senior citizens are the most vulnerable group during Corona pandemic. Even if we need life saving drugs, it is risky for us to go out. Mukti Sangha has started a laudable initiative, they are not only ensuring supply of essentials, also they are bringing medicines for us and delivering at our doorsteps – and that too without any additional cost”.
