As the COVID19 situation continues to turn grim with a good number of positive cases being reported almost every day, the state-level Covid Task Force on Thursday reviewed the overall preparedness.
In the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar, various important issues like vaccination, treatment of Covid-infected patients, testing of samples and arrangements in Covid Care facilities were discussed in length.
While taking review, the Chief Secretary passed an instruction to the Health department and district administration to monitor the status of testing and vaccination.
Taking part in the discussion, the officials of the Health department represented that the Covid positivity rate had jumped from 3.19 percent to 5.61 percent in the past one week– most of the positive cases were reported from some areas of AMC in West Tripura and North Tripura districts.
In this context, the Chief Secretary laid stress on creating containment zones and increasing the number of tests in such areas, if necessary.
The Health Department also decided to arrange testing facilities in different railway stations of the state for all the incoming passengers especially for those coming from COVID19 hotspots.
In the review meeting, some important decision were taken—random tests in city’s crowded places like markets, bus stands and offices, vaccination of all people in the age group 45-60 to be done in next seven days, mass awareness drive on voluntary lockdown to be initiated so that the people don’t go out of home without special need, two nodal officers comprising one administrative officer and one health officer would be appointed for supervise the arrangements in Covid Care facilities and the time for opening and closing times of shops in the markets would be decided in consultation with the market committees for crowd management.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) official in the meeting said that they would set up twelve Covid Care Centres in the state. The District Magistrates would issue notification in this regard.
Principal Secretary (Health)- J.K. Sinha, Principal Secretary Tourism- Sriram Taranikant, Urban Development Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health director Dr. Subhasis Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Radha Debbarma NHM Tripura Mission Director Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal along with many other officials including the representatives of BSF and Airport Authority of India were present in the meeting.
