Agartala, August 29, 2019: In an attempt to conserve nature, Centre has sanctioned Rs. 183.65 crore to Tripura for afforestation under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) Act. As per the CAMPA Act, the fund will be used to promote afforestation and regeneration activities as a way of compensating loss of forest lands to non-forest activities.
Two union ministers- Prakash Javadekar and Babul Supriyo handed over the sanction letter to Tripura Forest Minister Mewar Kumar Jamatia in New Delhi today.
Javadekar in his official tweeter handler said the issue that was pending for more than a decade now resolved by the Narendra Modi government.
In reply, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar for sanctioning the fund under CAMPA Act.
In his tweet, Deb wrote that he had discussed the matter with the Prime Minister in the last meeting of NITI Aayog
