Agartala (Tripura) Jun 18: Tripura girl, Anwesha Deb clinched a Gold medal in the individual group in the National Yoga Olympiad 2025. The event was held at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu from June 15-18. Besides, the secondary boys group from Tripura won a Bronze medal while the Middle girls group secured 4th spot. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha hailed the success of the State team.
Selected by the SCERT, a 16-member students’ team from Tripura, under the guidance of Joydeb Majumder and Soma Das, participated in the Olympiad. A total of 33 teams across the country took part in the event, Dr Saha said and added, “Kudos to their dedication in promoting yoga”.

Meanwhile, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in Tripura organized yoga demonstrations on Wednesday at various historical sites across the state. The events took place at Ujjayanta Palace, Albert Ekka, Heritage Park, and Oxygen Park, with participation from cadets of BMC, MBB, ICFAI, UK Academy, and SKM College. They showcased various yoga asanas and raised awareness about the importance of healthy living.
NCC Unit Associate Officer Lieutenant Suman Shukla Das and Training JCO Subedar Parvinder Singh were present at the event. They encouraged cadets to practice yoga regularly and discussed its benefits in curing mental health issues and boosting enthusiasm for daily tasks. The initiative was held under the theme “One World, One Health,” promoting a global message of wellness and unity.
Tripura University Sports Board and the Physical Education Department jointly organized various programs as part of the International Yoga Day observance. A seven-day yoga training camp was held on the university campus from June 9 to June 17. A “Cycle Rally” will be held on Thursday in collaboration with Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, starting from the front of the university’s administrative building.
The rally will be flagged off by Vice-Chancellor Professor Gangaprasad Prasain. Sports Board Secretary Professor Prashanta Kumar Das, Head of the Physical Education Department Professor Sudeep Das, and other officials and professors will also be present. The main event for International Yoga Day will take place on July 21 at 7:00 am in front of the University Open Theatre.

As part of the nationwide countdown events leading up to the 11th International Day of Yoga, 81 Battalion BSF organized a Yoga Demonstration at Integrated Check Post (ICP), Srimantapur, Land Ports Authority of India, District Sepahijala, Tripura, on Wednesday from 0800 hrs to 0840 hrs.

The event was conducted under the Common Yoga Protocol as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India. The objective was to promote awareness about the immense benefits of Yoga among the border population and encourage its adoption in daily life for holistic well-being.
A total of 85 participants, including 35 civilians from different communities from nearby border villages—Sovapur, Sonpur, Nutan Bazar, and Paharpur—and 50 BSF personnel enthusiastically took part in the demonstration. The event witnessed active public engagement and created a joyful and energetic atmosphere.
The initiative reflected BSF’s commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the border population through the ancient Indian practice of Yoga. The event concluded with great enthusiasm and a shared sense of wellness among all participants.
