Agartala, September 03, 2019: Tripura Government is planning to harness rural health care delivery system with more blood banks and Trauma Care Centers in Sub-divisional and District Hospitals. The Government is planning to set up new blood banks in four sub-divisional Hospitals in Teliamura, Kanchanpur, Amarpur and Sabroom. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said in reply to question in the State Assembly today.
Notably, the monsoon session of Tripura Assembly ended today. The session started on August 30 last. Several Bills including Tripura ESMA Bill was passed in the session. The House witnessed heated arguments between members of the Treasury Bench and Opposition, especially on an alleged scam in PWD during previous LF rule.
State Government’s decision to create new blood banks in sub-divisional Hospitals will immensely benefit the rural patients. Additional blood banks will cater growing needs of blood for treatment increasing number of patients. With more blood available for transfusion, lesser number of patients will have to be referred to Agartala based Hospitals due to blood shortage in rural area – it will save life and costs, Agartala based medical practitioners opined.
Moreover, Trauma Care Centers will be set up in four District Hospitals, namely Dhalai, Gomati, South and North Tripura district Hospital. Expansion of Trauma care facility will cater needs of emergency patients – especially road accident victims. In several cases, such victims succumb to death while being brought to Agartala for treatment. Shedding lights on existing blood banks and trauma care facilities, Deb said, there are blood banks in 11 Government Hospitals and two private hospitals. Trauma Care Centers are functioning in AGMC and GBP Hospitals – both are in Agartala.
