The preparatory meeting held at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan was chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today evening. In the meeting, crucial decisions were made to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the fair. Dr. Saha emphasized the significance of broadening participation by inviting more stalls from outside Tripura. Encouraging the support of local authors, he stressed the official purchase of their books.
To facilitate a seamless experience for visitors, the Chief Minister directed organizers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, efficient traffic management, adequate seating arrangements, and measures to curb noise pollution.
The discussions during the meeting covered a spectrum of essential topics catering to book lovers, sellers, and publishers alike.
Among the attendees were Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumder, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain of Tripura University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satyadeo Poddar of MBB University, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad, along with Secretary of ICA P K. Chakraborty and Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee.
Representatives including president Jayanta Bhattacharya of Agartala Press Club, book publishers, and eminent personalities contributed their valuable suggestions to ensure the smooth execution of the Book Fair.
