The CITU of Tripura unit on Sunday called for a larger participation in the two days long Bharat Bandh on March 28 and 29 called by a joint forum of central trade unions.  However, the State Government announced that all the government offices, PSUs, and Autonomous Bodies/Boards under the State Government would function normally on the days of the Bandh

Addressing a press conference on Sunday evening, the CITU state president and also a former transport minister Manik Dey slammed the Modi led government at the centre and Biplab Deb led government in Tripura and said the general people of the country including the state of Tripura are frustrated with the policies of the BJP government which are meant for the corporate.

Dey alleged that poverty and unemployment are rising at an alarming rate in Tripura and country as a whole due to the anti-people policies of the BJP government.

“The way country’s assets and resources are being sold, people especially the poor are losing their work and are being deprived at large,” Dey stated.

A nationwide shutdown is called by a joint forum of central trade unions on March 28 and 29 in protest against the “anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-people, and anti-national policies” of the Centre, Dey said alleging that following the bandh, a group of BJP goons started threatening the people for the last two days so that they do not support the Bandh.

In view of the two-day Bharat Bandh, the State Government issued a memorandum mentioning that all the offices etc under the State Government would remain open on Bandh days – all Government employees and employees of all PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies/ Boards shall perform duties as usual on these days.

The memorandum also read, any violation of the instructions by the Government employees and employees of PSUs/Organizations will be viewed seriously.
