The 2-day State-Level workshop starts today with the joint initiative of NITI Aayog and Planning (Statistics) department, Government of Tripura at Pragna Bhawan.
The topics discussed were- NER District SDG Index 2.0, SDG India Index 4.0 and National Multidimensional Poverty Index. PCCF Dr. D. K. Sharma was present as the chief guest and inaugurator. Secretary of Planning & Coordination department Apurba Roy, Secretary of Statistics department Mohammad Zubair Ali Hashmi, UNDP Regional Head John Borgoyary and other officials were present as special guests.
PCCF Dr. D. K. Sharma said, all kinds of steps have been taken to bring stable development in the country. The plan to further strengthen the rural areas has been working from 2016. Work is ongoing with the mentality that the development of the nation comes with rural development. He said, the country is following all the goal of SDG (Sustainable Development Goals). Tripura among all other North-eastern states is ahead in the case of SDG and will further go ahead in future. Central NITI Aayog and the state government also are continuing work to achieve the goals.
Secretary of Planning & Coordination department Apurba Roy said, United Nations adopted the SDG program in 2015. Then other countries including India has adopted SDG. Its ultimate goal is to build a poverty-free world by 2030 and a peaceful environment for everyone. Different states of the country are working on adopting SDGs. In this regard, Tripura is at the forefront. SDG Associate Mimansa Mishra, SDG Officer Soumya Guha and young professional Sakshi Gupta are the keynote speakers of the 2-day workshop.
