‘24 pc population  already vaccinated’ 

Education minister and cabinet spokesman Ratanlal Nath on Sunday claimed that 24 percent of the total population had already been vaccinated in the state.

He said this at a press conference at his official residence on Sunday.

He said, as of now Tripura had received 11,68, 370 doses. Among them, 9,64,480 doses had already been administered.

Nath also said a total of 32 lakh doses would be required to conduct the free vaccination drive among the people in the age group of 18 to 44 from May 1 next. The state government would purchase the vaccine at a total cost of Rs. 133.19 crore.

Meanwhile, Mask Enforcement Day would be observed every Saturday and Sunday onwards now, he said.

 

One dead, one injured in road mishap

In an incident of road mishap one youth died and another injured seriously when a lorry and bike collided neck to neck at Kalyanpur yesterday.  The incident took place on Khowai – Teliamura Road nearby Kalyanpur Forest Range Office.

A 12-wheeler lorry (AS 11BC 0371 ) was going from Khowai to Teliamura.  At that time from  opposite side two youths Guru Debbarma and Sanjib Debbarma were going by bike  towards Khowai. They were going at their house at Bairagi Bazar and met the accident near Forest Office.

As a result both the youths were injured seriously and they were referred to G.B. Hospital from local hospital. But condition of Guru Debbarma deteriorated when he was taken to G.B. in senseless position. He died during treatment in last night.

 

Housewife ‘murdered’

One 25-year old housewife, Nangthui Mog was allegedly murdered by her husband, identified as Kandi Mog of Kalsi area on Saturday. Sources alleged, Kandi used to torture Nangthui regularly since after their marriage around five years ago.

Sources said, Nangthui was brought to Santirbazar District Hospital on Saturday and doctors declared her ‘brought dead’.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased housewife lodged a complaint with Baikhora PS against Kandi Mog.
