Three youths of Minority community have been accused of molesting a 17-year-old girl that took place at Tepania Eco Park in Tripura.
The incident, which unfolded on Thursday (June 1), has ignited a wave of anger and condemnation, with the Hindu Jagaran Manch branding it as a potential instance of “love jihad“
The chain of events began approximately six months ago when one of the youths connected with the minor girl on Facebook, disguising himself as a Hindu individual. Over time, the youth allegedly pressured the girl into meeting him in person. Consequently, on Thursday (June 1), the girl agreed to meet with him at Tepania Eco Park, located in the Gomati District of Tripura.
Upon arriving at the park, the victim discovered that three youths, including the one she had befriended on Facebook, who belong to the minority community, were approaching her. According to the victim’s grandfather, as the youths attempted to molest her, the girl desperately tried to flee the scene.
Reportedly, the three accused individuals forcibly took the girl in a car and later abandoned her in the Rajarbagh area of the same district. Upon returning home, the traumatized girl confided in her guardians, recounting the harrowing experience she had endured.
Following the incident, members of the Hindu Jagaran Manch promptly intervened and expressed their outrage at the incident. They swiftly proceeded to the R K Pur Women Police Station to file a formal complaint. Simultaneously, the girl and her mother also arrived at the police station to lodge their own complaint.
Labeling the incident as an instance of “love jihad,” the Hindu Jagaran Manch alleged that such cases are on the rise in the district.
They claimed that Muslim youths are deceiving Hindu girls on social media platforms by falsely portraying themselves as Hindus.
The organization demanded that the accused individuals face exemplary punishment. In response, the police initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Local residents have also joined the chorus of voices demanding stringent action against the perpetrators. The incident has stirred a collective call for justice and measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
