The 72-hour long Dharna by the Tripura Youth Congress pertaining to unemployment issue in the State came to an end on Wednesday (July 20). It started on July 18 in presence of AICC leader, Tripura Pradesh Congress and Youth Congress leaders in Agartala.

On the final day of the Dharna, newly elected Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman hailed the Youth Congress for highlighting the unemployment issue and slammed the government for stalling the recruitment in vacant posts under several departments.

He said that the Congress party and its wings always gave priority to the problems of the people. The Congress youth organization is putting pressure on the government by highlighting the problem of unemployment. The Dharna agitation that the Youth Congress organized kept in mind plight of the unemployed youth who appeared in JRBT or cleared TET.

Even as the JRBT exam was conducted a few months ago, it is unfortunate the current government could not release the results, so far, Roy Barman commented.

Continuing his tirade, the Congress MLA said, a lot of money was collected from the unemployed youth as the fees for the JRBT exam. He alleged, the vacancies that are being mentioned by the state government in a press conference were the vacancies of the JRBT. In fact, the government wants to make it clear that the result of JRBT will not be announced – here the Youth Congress is exerting pressure on the government to publish the JRBT results, he explained.

Roy Barman also talked about youth of the state who have not got teacher’s job after passing TET. The government is not taking any initiative to appoint them – even as there is a glaring shortage of teachers in schools.

Roy Barman also blamed the BJP-led government for being apathetic to casual workers. Among others, AICC general secretary Szarita Laitphlang and State Youth Congress President Rakhu Das were also present in the Dharna spot.
