The preparations for the 7th North East Youth Festival are in full swing in Agartala. The festival is being organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura.
The 4-day long Youth Festival will be inaugurated by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy on February 26 at 3 pm.
The other dignitaries who will be present on the occasion include Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Olympian Padmashree Dipa Karmakar, and others. The function will be presided over by Director of the Department Satyabrata Nath.
The participating youth from all the eight North Eastern states have started arriving in Agartala. The schedule of the events has also been finalized.
On February 26, a rally will be taken out from Rabindra Bhavan at 2 pm and will culminate at Urban Haat in Purbasha.
The formal inauguration ceremony will be held at Urban Haat. Later, the food and handicrafts stalls will be inaugurated from 4 pm to 4:30 pm. This will be followed by folk dance performances and local cultural programmes.
On February 27, various events will be held, including folk music, painting, photography and clay modeling, folk dance, NSS and Nehru Yuva Kendra’s Subichar programme, guitar playing, martial arts show, one-act play competition, and folk dance and cultural programmes.
On February 28, a kayaking and trekking tour will be organized for the participating youth to Sepahijala Neermahal and Purba Chandigar in Melaghar.
In the afternoon, after returning to the Town Hall, the second round of the one-act play competition will be held, followed by a rock band competition at Nazrul Kala Kendra and folk dance and local cultural programmes at Purba Asha Complex.
On February 29, after the inaugural ceremony at Nazrul Kala Kendra at 9 am, the participants will visit tourist spots like Ujjayanta Palace and Heritage Park.
The closing ceremony will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan from 4:30 pm onwards. The day will also see the prize distribution ceremony and a colorful cultural programme.
