Amidst widespread criticism of the government for deferring the TTAADC elections for the second consecutive term of six months, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT), oldest regional political outfit of Tripura, has finalized the candidate list of its party for the ensuing elections.

According to party sources, “a meeting of the party’s election committee was held on Saturday and a tentative list of candidates had been finalized for the elections. The party had already completed all its political maneuvering ahead for the polls and it was quite confident to fight the polls on its own”.

According to a party insider, INPT still has a considerable vote share in the ADC areas. Now as to what it needed a strong political alliance to take on the ruling dispensation.

However, clouds of uncertainty were still hovering over the recently signed agreement among INPT, TIPRA and TPF as after the agreement no noticeable political activity had been seen organized jointly by these three forces. TIPRA under the leadership of Pradyot Kishore Debbarman introduced itself as a strong force with presence in most of the ADC areas but questions were being thrown from different political quarters would TIPRA contest the polls shedding its apolitical status.

On the other hand, TPF although have negligible presence, known to be very close to TIPRA leadership and Pradyot Kishore Debbarman was more concerned about the future of TPF rather than that of INPT. Murmurs were also rife in the political circles that conflict between INPT leadership and TIPRA leadership had already begun and subtle fissures in the sweet political arrangement had started to develop.

Meanwhile, INPT leadership refused to comment on the matter and said that the right time would reveal everything and certainly settle the arithmetical jumbles being seen in the TIPRA,INPT and TPF relations.
