After a long gap of 25 years, the election for the executive committee of the Tripura Veterinary Doctors’ Association was held in a democratic manner on late Saturday night in Agartala. In a peaceful election, a 15-member committee was elected by the members of the Association.
In the executive committee – tenure of the committee is two years- Dr Anadi Sankar Bhattacharjee was elected as president while Dr Sujit Saha and Dr Chintu Debbarma were elected as the general secretary and treasurer respectively. In a press statement, general secretary Dr Sujit Saha said this.
“For the first time, in the last 25 years, Association members got a chance to select candidates for executive committee through elections. Members participated in poll with enthusiasm and the election was conducted peacefully in a democratic manner”, Dr Saha said.
Notably, the Tripura Veterinary Doctors’ Association (TVDA) held its 9th biennial cum 51st Annual conference at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan on Saturday. Animal Resource Development Minister Santana Chakma in presence of other dignitaries inaugurated the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Santana Chakma hailed the contribution of veterinary doctors for their untiring efforts in treating the pet animals and helping people of the poorer section in attaining financial benefits. She urged veterinary doctors to continue their services with increased sincerity and accountability.
