After grabbing national attention with bamboo bottles and bamboo cookies, Tripura is now all set to storm the national market with bamboo rice derived from the flowers blossom in bamboo trees.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said, “Glad to announce that Tripura successfully produced ‘Bamboo rice’. Launched ‘Tripura Bamboo Rice’ last evening (October 5, 2020). Bamboo rice has more protein than normal rice and wheat. It helps to reduce joint pain, back pain and other pain. It also contains anti diabetic elements.”
Besides, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb while speaking at a programme regarding the market promotion of bamboo rice which was held at Civil Secretariat in Agartala on Monday, said, “Innovative use of existing resources will help promote entrepreneurship in the state. Bamboo is produced in abundance in Tripura. Bamboo rice is a unique product. While it’s nutritional value and taste are unmatched, it can provide youths of the State another lucrative avenue for attaining self-reliance. Tripura has a major upper hand to penetrate with this product in the desired markets”.
Notably, Bamboo made bottles have been well appreciated and concerned artisans are flooded with accolades as well as orders from different places including high profile personalities like Raveena Tandon. Efforts have been undertaken to popular Bamboo cookies in local markets as well as at national level.
Commenting more on Bamboo rice, the Chief Minister said, “We have already taken initiatives to market this product. And, now we need a dedicated will power to invest time in this. The youth can earn a good living if they chose it as an occupation”.
According to Biplab Kumar Deb, this rice has very good nutritional value. Rich in protein, Bamboo rice is good in controlling cholesterol and sugar level. This product is very much helpful for the health conscious people. Moreover, clinical studies have revealed that this particular rice is very effective in building the immune system.
